From Megan Romer, your About Books & Literature Editor
I went on a vacation with family this week. Silly me -- I thought I'd get some reading done. I'd apparently forgotten that family vacations are more work than normal daily life. This week, it's back to the grind... and my reading list.

'War' by Sebastian Junger
War has more buzz than almost any nonfiction I've heard about so far this year. Journalist Sebastian Junger spent five months embedded with troops in Afghanistan and came back to write this powerful manuscript. It's a hard read, but a worthy one.

'The Thousand Autumns of Jacob de Zoet' by David Mitchell
Need something a little less real than the harsh realities of the conflict in Afghanistan? How about a bit of literary historical romantic fiction, set in early 19th century Japan? Snagging a five-star rating from our reviewer, this one seems to be well worth your time.

2010 Eisner Winners
San Diego Comic-Con has wrapped up, and the Eisner Awards have been handed out. Want to know who won, and thus which comics you ought to catch up on (if you haven't read them already)?

Has Shelley's Rediscovered Poem Been Sold Into Oblivion?
Interesting news from the world of poetry: a rediscovered manuscript from Percy Bysshe Shelley has been found and re-sold, but without having ever been made available to the public. Is this a crime against literature? What do you think?
