The snow that is blanketing half of the U.S. makes for poor driving conditions but outstanding reading conditions. I've nearly plowed through my stack of Christmas gift books, which means that I may be forced to get my snow gear on and plod to the local bookstore for a re-stock. I'm not complaining.

Review: 'The Empty Family' by Colm Toibin
I really loved Colm Toibin's 2009 novel, Brooklyn, and I'm thus really looking forward to digging into The Empty Family, a collection of short stories.

Books Into Movies 2011
I always prefer to read the book before seeing the movie. Thing is, I don't always pay very close attention to which movies are being made, so by the time they hit the screens, I have to scramble to get the book read. Thankfully, Erin Collazo Miller has provided me with a cheat sheet which will prepare me for this year's offerings.

Best Illustrated Children's Books of 2010
